That is an interesting quote. What has it got to do with your argument? As it happens you have erected a straw man. No one denies that modern Zionism is a secular nineteenth century ideology. No one at all. So what? Palestinian nationalism dates to about 1967. Does that mean it is meaningless?

That is simply a non-sequiter. Where is the evidence that this sentiment was racist? Perhaps it was ethnic or religious in motivation. It was not before and it has not been since.

As for secular terrorists, you mean the PLO?

The Israelis did accept the right of the Arabs to an independent state in 1949. The Arabs did not recognise the right of the Jews to their own state. So by all means, let’s rectify the errors of the past and start with the Arabs accepting Israel’s right to exist. Resolution 194 also does no such thing because it does not recognise the existence of the Palestinians. It gives the people we now call Palestinians the right to return but only if they are willing to live in peace. And they are not. Again acceptance is a two-way street.

The fact that “Palestinian nationalism” did not exist before about 1967 - and hence there was no people called the Palestinians - is a simple statement of fact. Palestinians called themselves Arabs and denied any special Palestinian identity until it became politically useful. Whether or not there is a Palestinian nation now, there was none in 1949 and that is undeniable.

I don’t see why it should - although such a distinction would mean that Begin et al were not terrorists either. The PLO is clearly a terrorist organisation because legitimate resistance to occupation hardly applies before 1967 and does not apply at all to people who murder children.

A little bit of dishonesty there. Jerusalem was not “liberated”. It was conquered. And it was ruled by some Christians for a while there.
