But what Jesus says very clearly in this passage is something very different: salvation is a gift.但耶穌說得很清楚，在這一段是非常不同的東西：救恩是一份禮物。 It is not something we can earn.這不是我們可以賺。 Jesus has won it for us.耶穌為我們贏得了它。 I repeat: salvation is a gift.我再說一遍：救恩是一份禮物。 It is not something we can earn.這不是我們可以賺。 Jesus has won it for us.耶穌為我們贏得了它。 The horse must come before the cart: God's love has to come before any response on our part.馬前車必須是：上帝的愛來回應之前，我們的一部分。 If we, by our will power or virtue, could earn God's love, then Jesus died on the cross for nothing.如果我們，我們的意志力或美德，可賺取上帝的愛，然後耶穌死在十字架上沒有意義。 In fact, He came to earth for nothing.事實上，他來到地球的什麼。 If we can earn salvation, there is no need for Jesus at all.如果我們能夠獲得救贖，沒有必要為耶穌的。
